One of the Rockefeller Center's initiatives, the Policy Research Shop is a unique opportunity for students at the College. The goals of the Policy Research Shop are to provide students with real life experience in public policy research and to deliver high-quality, objective research on critical policy issues of interest to elected policymakers in New Hampshire and Vermont. The Research Shop builds on a long tradition at the Rockefeller Center of bridging the gap between public policy research and civic engagement. Research Associate William O'Neal is the primary point of contact and directs the day to day operations of the Policy Research Shop.

Students interested in participating in the Policy Research Shop must complete Public Policy 45 – Introduction to Public Policy Research during the fall term. Taught by Professor Ronald Shaiko, Associate Director of the Rockefeller Center, the course will prepare students with the fundamental methods for conducting public policy research. The course will also provide students with the opportunity to meet practitioners and policymakers from Vermont and New Hampshire.

Students who excel in the Public Policy Research course will be invited to work as interns in the Policy Research Shop during the winter and spring terms. Students may work in the Policy Research Shop for academic credit (PBPL 91) or as paid interns. Students working in the PRS will apply their learning by completing research on policy issues of interest to policymakers in Vermont and New Hampshire.
