The Board and Its Purpose
The Rockefeller Center Board of Visitors was established by a vote of the Dartmouth College Trustees in 1982 to advise the Director. Its responsibilties include review and recommendation of policies, long-term planning, identification and development of Center resources and support, and assistance in maintaining liaison with external sources.
Committees
Committees are created at the discretion of the Director and Chair to deal with specific needs. Currently, there are two.
The Public Affairs Committee assists the Director in alumni networking and external outreach. It makes recommendations regarding the Center's public relations strategy, selects the Nelson A. Rockefeller Distinguished Public Service Award recipient, develops networks to place Rockefeller interns, and suggests prominent scholars and practitioners who might be invited to Dartmouth as distinguished speakers.
The Nominating Committee works with the Director, the Chair, the alumni office, and the dean to identify and recruit prospective board members. It develops a long-term plan to fill vacancies in keeping with the functional needs identified by the Director.
Membership
The 21-member Board is headed by a Chair and has a representative from the Dartmouth Board of Trustees. Members are drawn from academia, business, government, non-profit organizations, and the legal profession.
