Rocky Funded Intern Blackwood '14 Featured in the Huffington Post

This summer, Kristy Blackwood '14 was able to intern in Washington, DC at the New America Foundation thanks to a grant by the Rockefeller Center. While getting this internship was impressive enough, Kristy topped herself by having an opinion piece published in the Huffington Post last month.

Blackwood's piece, Transforming Food Deserts and Swamps to Fight Obesity, was written in collaboration with Dr. Susan Blumenthal, the Public Health Editor at the Huffington Post and a former U.S. Assistant Surgeon General. The piece focuses on Americans who don't have access to healthy and nutritious food and what can be done to alleviate this problem.
Blackwood is a Biology major and Spanish major. In addition to being a Rocky funded intern this past summer, she has taken Public Policy classes and has participated in our Management and Leadership Development Program.
