Michael Pyle '00

Mike Pyle is currently a Managing Director at BlackRock, where he is the Head of Macroeconomic Research and Portfolio Strategy for the firm’s Multi-Asset Strategies group. In that capacity, he leads a global team responsible for building macroeconomic investment insights across major advanced and emerging economies, with a particular emphasis on the global policy landscape and major central banks. Previously, Mike served for five years at the center of President Obama's economic team. Most recently, he worked at the White House as a Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, following roles earlier in the Administration at the Treasury Department and the Office of Management and Budget. In these capacities, he directly advised the President as well as every member of his senior economic team, and he participated first-hand in the most significant international and domestic economic policy challenges of President Obama's first term in office. Mike also played a significant role in the 2016 presidential campaign, serving at the core of the team that formulated every major economic policy announcement of Secretary Clinton’s presidential campaign. He began his career in public service as a law clerk to the Hon. Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Mike graduated with a degree in economics from Dartmouth College, earned a law degree from Yale Law School, and studied graduate economics and law at the University of Cambridge (U.K.) as a Keasbey Scholar.
