Class of 1952 Grant

 


This grant was endowed at the behest of class president Peter McSpadden. Himself a generous donor to the Rockefeller Center, he encouraged the class to donate in connection with their 50th class reunion. The Class of 1952 generously supports two interns a year.


Most Recent Intern

Winter 2007

Daniel Duray '08, recipient of the Class of 1952 grant, will intern with the Hearst News Service this winter. While with Hearst, a supplemental wire service, he will report on news events in the nation's capitol and write news stories for the news service. As an English major, Daniel anticipates that his time with Hearst will allow him to expand his writing skills in preparation for a future in journalism.




Past Interns

Spring 2006

Amy Rolfvondenbaumen '07, recipient of the Class of 1952 Grant, will spend the spring working for the American NGO Coalition for the International Criminal Court (AMICC), a New York-based organization that aims to increase awareness and support for the ICC among the American public. She will update members of the coalition on the actions of the ICC and design public outreach programs. Amy is a Government major.



Winter 2006

Katherine Scovner '07, recipient of the Class of 1952 Grant, will spend the winter working for the American NGO Coalition for the International Criminal Court, a New York-based organization that aims to increase awareness and support for the ICC among the American public. She will help organize outreach conferences with member organizations, research issues relating to the ICC and the US, and assist in the promotion of the court. Katherine is an Economics major and a Government minor.



Spring 2005

Jason Hartwig '06 interned with the National Park Service at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He performed research for an exhibit that will be displayed in the new Visitor's Center at Gettysburg. He also conducted education programs for school groups about the Battle of Gettysburg. Justin was advised by Joseph Cullon, Assistant Professor of History.



Winter 2005

Tara Seethaler worked at the Office of Congressman Jim Matheson (D-Utah) in Washington, D.C. A government and psychology major, Tara expects the experience to provide a solid foundation for a future career in politics. Congressman Matheson represents a very active district, and Tara's tasks included corresponding with his Utah constituents.

Spring 2004

Justin Wiseman '05 traveled to Brussels, Belgium, where he interned with the U.S. Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Justin worked on the political and operational issues in such areas as NATO's Iraq, Afghanistan and Balkan policy, counterterrorism and WMD non-proliferation policy, NATO enlargement, and relations between NATO and its partners.

Winter 2004

Jedidiah Sorokin-Altmann '05 interned in the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He performed legal research, summarized depositions, drafted motions, memorandums and briefs, and assisted the attorneys with trial preparation.
