Women in Leadership

Women in Leadership empowers young women to take responsible roles in leadership positions, pursue careers of any caliber, and to reach for their highest goals without restraint from facing the gendered pressures of society. Hosting a plethora of women talented in their fields, WIL introduces students to women who have confronted challenges as they rose to positions of eminence. WIL aspires to aid women of Dartmouth in breaking through gender barriers and accomplishing their dreams.

Great women from around the world hail to Dartmouth to share their experiences in a personal setting with Women in Leadership. A few of the more memorable discussions have been:

  • Dating at Dartmouth
  • Women in Athletics
  • Women in Sororities
  • Discussion with Dr. Professor Lisa Adams on her experiences in international health
  • Discussion with author/writer/lawyer/political activist Kath Roth-Douquet

Next year, Women in Leadership plans to continue hosting women who have achieved prominence in their fields. Tentative ideas include women journalists, women in politics, and leaders in the world of academia.

While we do wish to continue facilitating informal discussions with women leaders in business, politics, and beyond, WIL also expects to broaden the scope of discussion by incorporating new subject matter affecting ambitious women today. We plan to explore issues of women's health with leaders in the Dartmouth Medical Community. Other topics relevant to 21st century women that we hope to discuss are gender equality, feminism, and other gender-based issues.

WIL is interested in attracting a variety of students to the forum to articulate their own ideas, receive thoughtful feedback from peers, and gain new insight into the issues facing motivated women today.

And if that doesn't interest you, we also offer free dinner!
