Rocky Funded Interns Make Mark on Public Policy

The Rockefeller Center recognizes and commends our interns from the 2024–2025 academic year.

This past year, 41 Rocky-funded interns worked in 20 different cities, across 14 different states and the District of Columbia. Interns worked throughout the federal government, including at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, the Department of Justice, the United States Department of the Treasury, and in 12 different Congressional offices in both the House and Senate, for representatives on both sides of the aisle. Interns also worked for federal, state and local courts, for legal services providers, for states and Governors, for state education agencies, and for think tanks like the Brookings Institution.

The Rocky Internship Program provides resources for Dartmouth undergraduate students interested in leave-term internships in the fields of public policy, public affairs, and social entrepreneurship. Rocky selects and funds exceptional students to pursue unpaid or underpaid internships, so students can pursue meaningful experiences, regardless of pay, and do so with public policy organizations that are often not well-funded

Gemma Stowell ’27 encapsulates the goals of Rocky’s internship program: “This experience has reinforced my commitment to public service and provided me with invaluable skills that I will carry forward in my career. I’m incredibly thankful to the Rockefeller Center for making this opportunity possible. As a first-generation student, I don’t have mentors with experience in government, so pursuing a meaningful career in this field has required me to seek out a community of inspiring role models. Thanks to their support, this dream has become accessible, and somehow more like a reality.” Gemma interned in the Office of U.S. Representative Becca Balint in the Winter 2025 term.

Rocky’s internship support lets students take the lessons they learn in the classroom and campus-based programming into a real-world context. “This internship experience would not have been possible or nearly as enriching as it was without the Rockefeller Center for Public Policy. My past experiences with Rockefeller Center programs enabled me to be successful in my internship,” said Zoe Olsen ’26, who interned in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in the Winter 2025 term. Once back on campus, students like Zoe are then able to bring their newfound insights back to their studies, their classrooms, and their peers.

Rocky looks forward to another year of successful internships in 2025-26! For more information about Internship Opportunities, visit dartgo.org/RockyInternships.
