First-Year Fellowship: US African Development Foundation; Mentor: Michele Rivard '87

Kate Yuan ’23 is from Woodbridge, Connecticut and graduated from Amity Regional High School. At Amity, Kate was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, captain of the debate team, and captain of the girls indoor and outdoor track teams. Kate was appointed to and served as a student representative on the State Student Advisory Council on Education her senior year. At Dartmouth, Kate plans on majoring in Government or Environmental Studies with minors in Public Policy and Human-Centered Design. She is a staff writer for The Mirror, an active member of the Dartmouth Design Collective, and a founding member of Unplugged, a club aimed at fostering a healthier tech-life balance. Kate, along with three of her peers, was awarded the first ever LookUp.Live grant to develop their app, Quell, which aims to battle social media addiction. After graduation, Kate hopes to pursue a career in policy or law.
