Michael Canche

First-Year Fellowship: National Science Foundation; Mentor: Lisa-Joy Zgorski '87

Michael Canche ‘23 was raised in Laredo, Texas and graduated from United High School as the salutatorian. Michael was the president of the robotics team and earned multiple prestigious awards, including a spot for his team in the FIRST In Texas Hall of Fame. Instead of pursuing a purely STEM future, Michael believes taking his love for technology into the public policy sector will create the biggest impact. As a Great Issues Scholar and a Dartmouth College Democrat, Michael remains constantly up to date on current events. At Dartmouth, he plans on pursuing a double major in Government and Computer Science and a minor in Public Policy. Michael is also heavily involved with volunteering at every level, having amassed over 1,000 community service hours in high school, and is currently involved with Dartmouth CoderDojo teaching computer science to K-12 students in the Upper Valley.
