Monica C. Higgins ’86 Tu’90

Monica Higgins is the Kathleen McCartney Professor of Education Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Monica joined the Harvard faculty in 1995 after earning her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and her master’s degree in Psychology, both from Harvard. Monica spent more than 11 years on the faculty of Harvard Business School in their Organizational Behavior Unit and then joined the faculty of the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2007. At Harvard, Monica’s research and teaching are focused on the areas of leadership, entrepreneurship, and organizational change. She served as an appointee to former Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, under the Obama Administration.

Prior to her academic career, Monica held consulting positions at Bain & Company and at Harbridge House, an organizational change consulting firm. She currently sits on several nonprofit boards and advisory committees, including Harvard College’s Visiting Committee and Education Research Strategies. She has been an active member of the Dartmouth alumni community, serving on the nominating committee for Dartmouth’s Board of Trustees, as chair of the Dartmouth Alumni Service Committee, as the representative of the Women of Tuck to the Dartmouth Alumni Council, and working with Women of Dartmouth. She received her A.B. in Policy Studies from Dartmouth and her M.B.A. from Tuck Business School.
