Penelope Spurr

First-Year Fellowship: The American Leader; Mentor: George Linzer '83

Penelope Spurr ’24 is from Lake Oswego, Oregon, and graduated from Lake Oswego High School as an AP Scholar with Distinction. At Lake Oswego, she served as the news editor of her student newspaper, was appointed as a student representative to the school board, and co-founded Lake Oswego Students for Change, a grassroots gun violence prevention advocacy group. Now at Dartmouth, Penelope plans to pursue majors in History and Creative Writing. She writes for The Dartmouth’s news section, serves as an editor of the intersectional feminist magazine Spare Rib, and is an undergraduate research assistant for the Dartmouth Digital History Initiative. She is also a member of the club women’s water polo team and Hillel.
