Policy Research Shop Testimony: June 7, 2013

PRS Students Testify Before the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services

On Friday, June 7, 2013, two PRS students, Michael Sanchez ’13 and Richard D’Amato ’13 from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center Policy Research Shop, made a presentation in Concord, NH to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), including Craig Wright, Director of the Air Resources Division and Michele Roberge, Administrator, Permitting and Environmental Health Bureau.

The students presented findings from their paper “Siting Energy Facilities” that examines the structures and processes used to cite energy facilities in six comparison states. The analysis is intended to inform options for the state of New Hampshire and highlights improvements in public participation, various structures for board membership and scope of responsibility, fee structures, and increased efficiency. Following the presentation, the NHDES staff and students discussed the implications of their research for both policy making and environmental administration in the state.
