The Rockefeller Center is proud to announce the class of 2029 First-Year Fellows as they head to Washington, D.C. for a week of immersive civic skills training with alumni and professionals across a wide range of policy fields and career pathways. Fellows will then begin 8 week, public policy focused internships at some of the nation’s premier institutions while receiving mentorship from accomplished Dartmouth alumni in Washington, D.C.
The First-Year Fellows program is one of the Rockefeller Center’s one-of-a-kind capstone leadership programs. A cohort of 20-25 students are selected from a competitive application pool and interview process for the unique opportunity to intern in Washington D.C. immediately following their first year at Dartmouth. Fellows are placed with a participating organization and alumni mentor that are best suited for their academic and professional interests. Eligibility for the program is contingent upon completion of an introduction to public policy course, an introduction to statistical methods course, and participation in the Dartmouth Leadership Attitudes and Behaviors program.
Following selection in the Spring term, First-Year Fellows engage in on-campus civic skills training where they are exposed to different leadership styles, learn professional communication skills, and participate in leadership skill building exercises to prepare them for a wide range of professional experiences in Washington, D.C.
Thanks to a partnership of the Irving Institute for Energy and Society, the Rockefeller Center expanded the cohort to from 20 to 25 students, making the Class of 2029 the largest class of First-Year Fellows since the program’s establishment in 2007. This collaboration also created four energy focused internships within the First-Year Fellow cohort, broadening student’s exposure to energy and public policy issues.
