I strongly believe that leadership is an active process rather than just a title and that it entails not just supporting those around you but also knowing when to ask for help.

The aspect of leadership that most interests me is team dynamics and the many different factors that influence team success. Understanding team engagement, creating effective channels of communication and interaction, and navigating conflicting individual motivations to achieve a group goal are three issues that I face on a daily basis on campus and will face in my future career.

Spending the summer as an intern put me on the right track toward a job in a legislative office. It also yielded great connections in making that happen. Most importantly, the internship showed me that this line of work is very rewarding and exciting.
