Brief Description of the organization:

The Economic Innovation Group (EIG) is a bipartisan research and advocacy organization dedicated to forging a more dynamic, entrepreneurial, and innovative U.S. economy for the 21st century. With its headquarters in Washington, D.C., EIG produces industry-leading data products, develops original policy ideas, and works to advance creative legislative proposals that will bring new jobs, investment, and economic growth to communities across the nation. After launching in 2015, EIG has quickly emerged as a leading voice in national conversations about how to build an economy that works for more people and more places.

Brief Description of the Intern's role or key qualifications:

Specific responsibilities may include, but not be limited, to the following: • Contribute to the development of a leading-edge research agenda that directly informs creative, actionable policy proposals to reinvigorate the dynamism of the U.S. economy and its regions. • Process and analyze a wide variety of economic data related to EIG issue areas. • Track the latest indicator releases from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc. • Conduct literature reviews, stakeholder interviews, policy evaluations, and qualitative research to inform public policy recommendations and practitioner handbooks. • Review the latest scholarly articles related to EIG issue areas. • Devise creative data visualizations and other methods of presenting EIG content. • Draft blogs, op-eds, presentations, and report content. • Devise new data resources and analytic approaches to better understand and track progress in the nation's recently-designated Opportunity Zones. • Assist in conducting spot research and drafting briefers on key policy areas of focus, including economic and community development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and access to capital. • Regularly attend and report back on relevant think tank events in DC.
