Passing of Deb Nichols, William J. Bryant 1925 Professor of Anthropology

The Nelson A. Rockefeller Center mourns the passing of Professor Deb Nichols, William J. Bryant 1925 Professor of Anthropology. Deb had close ties with the Rockefeller Center throughout her time at Dartmouth.  She was a worthy recipient of multiple faculty grants and served diligently on the Rockefeller Center Faculty Council.  Deb also established and chaired one of our long-standing faculty working groups, the Dartmouth Archaeology Working Group.  Beyond these important good works, Deb will be remembered at Rocky for her strong mentorship of her students as well as her junior faculty colleagues.  Even at the very end of her life, Deb was successfully guiding two of her Anthropology colleagues through our faculty grants process during the spring term.  We will miss Deb greatly.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her loving husband of thirty-two years, Professor John Watanabe, and her son, Aaron.

You can read a message from her colleagues in the Anthropology department here.
