Rockefeller Center's Judicial Fellowship Program: Apply by October 7, 2024

The Rockefeller Center's Judicial Fellowship program is offering Dartmouth undergraduates a rare and invaluable opportunity to gain direct exposure to the judicial system. Unique within the Ivy League, this program connects students with Dartmouth's network of alumni jurists, providing an inside look at the daily workings of courts and judicial chambers across the country.

Open to students from all academic backgrounds, the fellowship is designed to provide hands-on experience that is typically only available to law students. Student Fellows are matched with a judge or court system, where they will observe court proceedings firsthand and may assist with research, prepare case memos, or draft legal summaries among other tasks. From working with state supreme court justices to assisting in diversionary programs like drug courts, the program offers a wide range of experiences that will suit a variety of student interests.

This immersive internship provides more than just legal insight. Students are mentored by experienced judges, gaining an understanding of how courts impact society and the lives of individuals. Alumni of the program have described the experience as transformative, whether they went on to pursue legal careers or used their newfound knowledge to address social issues affecting court dockets.

Participating judges not only introduce students to the judicial process but also offer mentorship that can shape their personal and professional development. As one alumni judge noted, the program is "incredibly valuable to them as humans" as it prepares students to be thoughtful, informed citizens regardless of the career path they choose.

Dartmouth students interested in this opportunity should read the program information, and apply by Monday, October 7, 2024.
