This term, Robin Frye moved into a new position at the Rockefeller Center as a Program Officer for co-curricular programs. In this new position, Robin is responsible for coordinating one of the Center’s largest programs, the Management and Leadership Development Program (MLDP). MLDP runs three terms a year, impacts over 100 students each year, and embodies the experiential learning aspect of co-curricular programming to its core. During weekly sessions, students engage with one another and expert guest speakers on topics ranging from innovation and collaboration to networking and crafting a public narrative, and expand upon their skills as managers and leaders by practicing and reflecting upon key leadership competencies. "The one message that I hope students take from this program," Robin recently reflected, "is if you can live your life with a high standard of integrity, and acute situational and self-awareness, people will look to you as a leader."

When Robin joined the Rockefeller Center staff in March of 2009, she was originally hired as the Center’s Office Manager, in charge of things like updating the website, faculty grants, stewardship, special events and various administrative tasks. After just one year on the job, however, she was reassigned into a program coordinator position. In the ensuing five years, she has had experience working with just about every aspect of the co-curricular side of the Rockefeller Center. "I have worked on internships, student staffing, student workshops, discussion groups, stewardship, and I even filled in once and did financial paperwork for the Center. The only task that has consistently been in my suite of responsibilities," recounts Robin, "is the senior BBQ. I must really throw a good BBQ!" (She does, by the way.)
For the past several years, her primary focus has been on Civic Skills Training and the First-Year Fellows and Rockefeller Leadership Fellows programs. She has been particularly instrumental in assisting Deputy Director Sadhana Hall in developing new programs such as mentoring, Mini-Grants, and D-LAB (Dartmouth Leadership Attitudes and Behaviors). "I enjoy the process of developing a program and making tweaks to it so that it becomes better and better each time," says Robin. "The most rewarding part of my job is making a positive impact on students’ lives. By continually improving my program areas, I hope to make that impact even more substantial."
Outside of work, Robin loves to spend time with her husband and baby son, who turns one this year. As the weather turns milder, she’s looking forward to introducing him to her love of nature and hiking. She enjoys studying and practicing nutrition and herbal medicine, gardening, and cooking. She and her husband also own and manage rental property in Lebanon, NH.
