Brief Description of the organization:

 A lifelong resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, Congressman Chris Pappas is a local business owner and public servant who has a longstanding record or working to put people before politics. During his time in elected office, Chris also served as an Executive Councilor, State Representative, and County Treasurer. As the fourth generation owner of a family business that opened in 1917, Chris understands the need to focus on constituent services and delivering results for New Hampshire's working families and Main Street businesses.

As a member of the state's Executive Council, Chris worked with governors of both parties to implement Medicaid expansion, expand treatment and recovery services, approve funding for family planning providers, and support renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

Chris is currently serving his first term in Congress, representing the 80 cities and towns that make up New Hampshire's First Congressional District. The district spans the Greater Manchester area, Seacoast, Lakes Region, and Mount Washington Valley, including the cities of Dover, Laconia, Manchester, Portsmouth, Rochester, and Somersworth.

Brief Description of the Intern's role or key qualifications:

The Office of Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) is currently accepting internship applications for the Spring and Summer of 2019. Serving as an intern in the Congressman's Washington, DC office is an exciting opportunity to work closely alongside staff and develop skills in a Congressional office setting.

An internship in the Washington, DC office encompasses a variety of tasks and assignments such as answering phones, greeting visitors, giving tours, writing letters, and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to work with the legislative team and outreach staff to assist with legislation, special projects, writing, and/or research.

The ideal intern should be responsible, focused, enthusiastic, able to work cooperatively with Congressional staff, and possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Hours can be accommodated to a student schedule. Internships will be unpaid, but interns may arrange to receive college credit.

The office is looking for diverse candidates and is open to applications from candidates outside the state of New Hamphire.
