    On February 24, Kevin Chen gave a presentation on Ethical Leadership. Chen's central argument was that Ethical Leadership is not only a moral standard that has its intrinsic benefits, but it also has tangible benefits that cascades throughout a team. The example of Gravity Payments CEO, Dan Price, helped elucidate this point. During the pandemic, Price had undergone a pay cut in order to guarantee stable salaries for his employees. Not only did his employees stay with the company during the tumultuous time, the company quickly grew afterward.

  • RLF Reflection: CEO Activism & Advocacy

    On February 18, Curt Welling gave a presentation on CEO advocacy and activism. Professor Welling graduated from Dartmouth and served in the military during the Vietnam War before attending law school and receiving his MBA from Tuck Business School. Professor Welling is well versed in the responsibilities placed on CEOs as he worked in finance on Wallstreet for twenty-five years and was the CEO of an international emergency response and public health NGO for 13 years before his current role as a professor at Dartmouth.

  • RLF Reflection: A Guide to Personal Branding

    On February 10th, Alicia Massey delivered an enlightening presentation that guided the audience about how to brand themselves and put their best self forward. Alicia broke her presentation into three main parts. First, she defined personal branding as how one presents themselves, their skills, and their goals to the outside world. She invoked a brief example comparing the branding done by Michelle Obama and Beyonce ––emphasizing their qualities of confidence, elegance, sophistication, independence, and power.

  • RLF Reflection: Self-Confidence and Leadership

    On January 20, 2022, Fellow Chris Jun '22 presented on self-confidence and its role in achieving effective leadership. To contextualize the importance of self-confidence in leadership, Chris shared a personal story outlining his experiences as a teenager working for a manager that lacked self-confidence; he described his work environment as one of low morale, high turnover among staff, and uncertainty in expectations.
