Roanna Wang '13 Presents PRS Findings to the Vermont Senate Committee on Government Operations

On Tuesday, April 23, 2013, Roanna Wang '13, a student from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center Policy Research Shop, made a presentation in Montpelier, VT to the Vermont Senate Committee on Government Operations.

Roanna presented her findings from the paper to Chairwoman Jeanette White, along with Senator Ayer, Senator French, Senator McAllister, and Senator Pollina. Co-authored with Eric Yang, '14, this paper details the policy history and current policy environment for naturopathic doctors who are now recognized as primary care providers in Vermont.

Ms. Wang discussed options for the State of Vermont in her presentation, including regulations on the practice of homeopathy, the expansion of internships, residencies, and licensing examinations for ND practitioners, and the further integration of NDs within the Vermont health care system as primary care providers. Following the presentation, committee members engaged Ms. Wang in questions regarding the implications of naturopathic doctors prescribing medications.
