The Rockefeller Center Congratulates Students who Completed MLDP with Distinction

The Management and Leadership Development Program (MLDP) is a one-term program designed to develop citizen leaders among sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Dartmouth College. Led by expert guest speakers each week, sessions employ experiential teaching techniques to engage students through hands-on learning of core management and leadership skills.

The Rockefeller Center congratulates the students who completed MLDP with distinction in Winter Term 2015. To complete MLDP with distinction, a participant is asked to complete a personal case study. This case study begins with the students identifying a leadership or management challenge in an organization or group in which they are currently involved. Students must identify the resources available to them in MLDP and apply skills learned in the weekly sessions to take action on a solution for their individual challenges. Finally, students reflect on their experience in writing. This great example of experiential learning is typical of what participants can expect to experience in MLDP. MLDP participants engage in "power poses" during a Winter Term 2015 session.

This past Winter Term, participants identified a variety of challenges for their personal case studies including learning effective delegation, mobilizing groups of students toward a common goal, forming and motivating a team, working well within a predefined team, co-leading with peers, navigating gender and cultural in-balance in groups, working across cultural and generational differences, giving constructive feedback, facilitating group discussion, writing and speaking professionally, and networking and connecting with people.
