Rockefeller Center Finance Manager Lynn Spencer |
What appealed to you about working for the Rockefeller Center?
Certainly the great group of people I met during the interview process at Rockefeller Center was the catalyst for my coming here. Since I’m always hiding behind a calculator, I’ve not always taken a strong interest in politics, and I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and interest in the political arena. The Rockefeller Center provides so many wonderful programs that are open to the Dartmouth community as well as surrounding communities, and I’m enjoying being able to participate in these programs.
Have any past experiences prepared you in particular for your work at Rocky?
All of my prior jobs have helped me prepare for this position in one form or another. In addition to finances, I am also responsible for anything to do with the facilities here at the Rockefeller Center. My previous position at Kimball Union Academy provided me an inside view to how facility departments work. My experiences from that job have served me well when it comes to managing some of the smaller aspects of my current job.
What do you currently enjoy most about your position?
Being the accounting geek that I am, I really love being super busy and the challenge of problem solving. Having been recently involved in the FY16 budget planning process, I loved the challenge of finding the best and most efficient way to squeeze a large square peg (our expenses) into a small round hole (our revenue)!
Spencer enjoys Nordic skiing outside of work. |
What do you like the most about working with students?
I love the energy that the students bring to the Rockefeller Center as well as their willingness and excitement to learn.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love hanging out with my kids, cycling, Nordic skiing, hiking, adventure travel, and cooking.
