Position Type: Paid Internship and Scholarship
The CHCI-United Health Foundation (UHF) Scholar Intern Program helps students pursuing health-related careers receive scholarship funds as well as hands-on experience through a paid internship at a community-based health organization. The program creates a unique opportunity for financially needy students to take on what would otherwise be an unpaid internship and exposes them to the health care needs of underserved communities, all while receiving financial support for their education.
Location: Students are required to secure their own placement at a local community-based health organization.

Start Date: The 80 internship hours can be spread out however you desire. You can work with your placement supervisor to create a schedule that works for both of you as long as your placement is completed by August 1, 2020. Sample work schedules include:

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) is a nonprofit and nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization, providing leadership development programs and educational services to students and young emerging Latino leaders. For 40 years, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) has forged a critical pathway to Developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders®, creating a transformative and lasting Impact on Latino youth and our nation.
Brief Description of the Internship and Scholarship:
CHCI-United Health Foundation scholarships provide recipients with a scholarship of:
Scholarship awards are intended to provide assistance with tuition, room and board, textbooks, and other educational expenses associated with college enrollment. Please note, students must maintain a major related to the pursuit of a primary health care career. Students who switch majors will no longer be eligible to receive the scholarship.
During the first year of their scholarship, scholar-interns must complete a paid internship experience. Students are required to secure their own placement at a local community-based health organization. Upon completion of 80 hours of internship work, scholars receive a $1,000 stipend in addition to their scholarship.
