Tina Nadeau's PBPL 45 Visit

On Thursday, October 28, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Superior Court, Tina Nadeau, visited Professor Ron Shaiko's PBPL 45: Introduction to Public Policy Research class.  Chief Justice Nadeau is the 2021 Perkins Bass Distinguished Visitor at the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center.  She spoke to the class about the relationships between the judicial branch and the legislative and executive branches in New Hamsphire and provided a detailed case study of the emergence and institutionalization of drug courts across the state.  She then responded to a wide range of questions from the students.  In addition to her class visit, Chief Justice Nadeau has also provided a project topic for one of the research teams in the class.  PBPL 45 students Bella Sicker, Naomi Valdez, Jason Norris, and Paige Pattison are working with the Chief Justice on the research question: "Do license suspensions based on non-driving offenses (e.g., failure to pay child support) act as an effective form of rehabilitation, or are they a roadblock to becoming a productive citizen?"  Chief Justice Nadeau will complete her visitorship with a final public lecture at the Center on Monday, November 8 at 5:00pm.  The title of her talk will be: "Harm Reduction—One Way to Reduce Addiction and Follow the Science."
