Biography
Nelson Rockefeller is the President of Propact LLC, a small research venture incubator. Propact LLC's mission is to advance renewable energy and housing/community development through the creation of sustainable, integrated environments.
Mr. Rockefeller has had an established and successful career in business, education and government service. Nelson has been the Founder and CEO of Frontier Signal Inc., a technology company that provides a more precise way to screen, retain and grow talent powered by augmented intelligence and rigorous data science. Previously, he was an Executive Vice President of Intrepid Learning; a venture capital financed company providing global 2000 corporations with technology-enabled learning solutions and strategic learning services to address critical business challenges and achieve strategic goals. Mr. Rockefeller was a member of Intrepid’s Leadership Team that was charged with the overall management of the Company where he led the client development and business development groups. This included managing Intrepid’s direct client sales, channel sales and strategic alliances. In addition, he had previously led product marketing, market research, merger and acquisition, business impact and measurement services, and co-led corporate marketing.
Before joining Intrepid, Nelson served as a policy assistant to United States Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, providing staff support on welfare reform and representing the Majority Leader in coordination of Republican Governors and Senate/House leadership. He also served as special assistant to the United States Deputy Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget. At J.P. Morgan he was an associate, primarily assisting portfolio managers in the Private Banking Group with equity analysis.
Nelson has long been an advocate for nature and conservation. He is owner of Hacienda Campo Alegre (HCA), a 6,000-acre ranch on the coastal prairies of the South Texas brush country. HCA is a working ranch with conservation objectives. Cattle operations integrate with native wildlife and habitat management objectives.
Nelson is a member of the Leadership Circle of the Honor Foundation, a career transition program for U. S. Military Special Operations Forces. He is a National Trustee of the San Antonio Museum of Art. In 2025, he joined the Board of Trustees of the Union Church of Pocantico Hills. He served as a Trustee of the State University of New York, appointed by Gov. George Pataki, and as a Member of the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research Advisory Council. He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Conservation Fund, the New York State Taconic State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission, and theBoard of Advisors of the New York Zoological Society. Nelson earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Columbia University Business School. He and his wife, Amy, have two children, Barrett and Margo.
