Maia Bazo Vergara '28 is from Lima, Peru, and graduated as valedictorian from San José de Monterrico School. She is an advocate for diversity and education, having launched an anti-racism campaign with the Peruvian Ministry of Culture. Passionate about mentorship, she guided 15 students through the college application process, helping 7 gain admission to elite universities. Before attending Dartmouth, she was awarded the Cometa Scholarship for academic excellence and community engagement, chosen from over 5,000 applicants. At Dartmouth, Maia is a prospective Government and Economics major focusing on foreign policy and international development. She remains immersed in her academic interests as a Great Issues Scholar and by competing on the MUN travel team. Her intellectual curiosity led her to receive the Andrew Warden Edson 1925 Memorial Prize. During her free time, you can find Maia at Collis brainstorming events as a Class Council Officer dedicated to student engagement.
