The Rockefeller Center's Veterans Day Program this year features three Kendall residents, all contributors to the book, "World War II Remembered," who will talk about their experiences and the big differences between wartime then and now.

The book, "World War II Remembered," will be available for purchase at the event. The book features 56 World War II memoirs by residents of Kendal at Hanover, a retirement community in Hanover, NH. With more than 70 photographs, it also has four pages of maps and a timeline of the war. Sections include European Theater, Pacific Theater, Stateside Service, Wartime in Europe, and Home Front. About two thirds of the memoirs are by women, including one by a woman pilot, Louise Brown, who describes bailing out of her P-51 fighter plane. Other women underline the importance of victory gardens and other home front efforts.
