[more]At Dartmouth, Choate was known as a diligent and faithful student with extraordinary progress in mental discipline and study. Fellow students testified to “the supremacy which he held here, in the unanimous judgement of fellow students.”
[more]A graduate of the Class of 1826, Salmon P. Chase is one of just three people to have served as a state governor and in all three branches of the United States government. He is perhaps best remembered for his contributions as U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
[more]In 1845 President James Polk nominated, and the Senate subsequently confirmed, Senator Woodbury to the Supreme Court of the United States. Woodbury would serve until his death, just six years later at the age of 61.
[more]Throughout his public service, Dartmouth remained a central part of Moses's life. He would return often to campus to give lectures ranging from deforestation to the legislative functions of the senate.
